First Glimpses Of TINTIN!!!

Well they are not much just yet, but our friends over at Empire are gradually introducing photo elements that seems to be part of the classic image of TINTIN and his dog, Snowy.

I believe credit goes to /Film for determining just what these elements will eventually construct. All images revealed thus far are to the left along with the assumed completed puzzle image (bottom).

What do you think of the rendering? Amazing I would say! Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson have hit it on the head I think. Can't wait to see faces!!

Official TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON Logo Revealed

Finally we have an official look at the logo for TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON instead of behind the Entertainment Tonight logo.

Click the image to enlarge.

The logo comes to us from Paramount's newly repurposed website for the movie located here: www.transformersmovie.com/

You can also sign up for updates and the Transformer's Facebook page, even though the title of that page and movie release date is still TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN - not sure what they are doing there. They need a new FB page for DOTM.

More when I get it!

Dracula’s Home to Host PassmoreLab’s 3D Vampire Film on Halloween

San Diego, CA (Oct 30, 2010) – In a mysterious, mist-shrouded region deep in the forbidding Carpathian Mountains, directly across the street from Dracula’s Castle, sits Cinemax5D in the Galeria Bran, the latest home of PassmoreLab’s award-winning 3D science documentary The Extreme Nature of Bats. The film will begin its run as a moving theatre attraction on Halloween, it was announced today by San Diego-based 3D Production studio PassmoreLab.

The Cinemax5D, which started in 2008 and was the first 3D theatre in Romania, is adjacent to Bran Castle in Bran City and is in the immediate vicinity of Braşov. The castle is a national landmark in Romania, located on the border of Transylvania, and is commonly known as "Dracula's Castle" – the home of Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Much of The Extreme Nature of Bats was actually shot inside Bran Castle and in the surrounding area of Transylvania. It is that fact which makes this moving theatre film experience even more haunting.

"This film is a fantastic way to learn about the spirit, history and culture of the region. The fact that Greg Passmore and his team actually shot much of the film here makes it more eerie...and premiering it on Halloween is even better," said Janusz Szalinski, owner of Cinemax5D.

PassmoreLab’s announcement comes on the heels of the film winning first place at the Arizona Underground Film Festival in the “Documentary Short” category just three weeks ago.

The film, which explores the truths, myths and dark legends that have stalked the world’s only flying mammal, closely examines three bat species; the free-tailed bat, the megabat, and the infamous vampire bat.

“Guests will actually be seeing and learning about bats – including the most famous vampire of them all Dracula -- in the actual place where the legend began,” said Greg Passmore, Director of the film. “I can’t think of a better place and time for the film to debut than in Transylvania on Halloween.”

Filming of The Extreme Nature of Bats began last year in a Texas bat cave, where the production crew filmed a resident population of 12 million Mexican free-tailed bats. From there, the crew traveled to Romania and Dracula’s Castle, then backpacked through the jungles of Mexico to film the elusive vampire bat. Through interpreters and local guides, Passmore began to hear about the legends of vampires. “The locals told us that they can hear the vampire bats making a screaming noise during the nightly cattle hunts.” It was there that they found swarms of vampire bats in the moonlight drinking blood from cattle. Production wrapped in Africa on a primitive island in the Indian Ocean.

Vampires are synonymous with Halloween and have become long-lasting mainstream pop icons, especially with the recent mega-successes of the Twilight films and HBO’s True Blood series. One of the most popular costumes year after year is to dress up like blood-dripping, fang-flashing vampires.

“It’s perfect timing all the way around,” says Steve Glum, PassmoreLab’s head of Branding & Distribution. “This will be a great film for tourists to enjoy for years to come, and a exciting annual Halloween treat.”

The Extreme Nature of Bats will be seen at Cinemax5D, Bran City, Romania, starting on Halloween, October 31, for a ticket price of 18.34 RON (US $6).

About Cinemax5D
Cinemax5D is located in Bran City, very near to the famous Bran Castle, the legendary Count Dracula’s home. It is a well-known touristic attraction not only because of its specific beauty and the breathtaking landscape, but also because of the local legends and stories, which got it a well-deserved 4th place on the “Ten Most Haunted Places from Around the World” list by the MSN NZ Travel Editors. Cinemax5D was the first 5D moving theater opened in Romania. At a 3D movie, the viewer takes part in the movie action by watching it through special glasses. At a 4D movie, the viewer gets, among other sensations, chair movement. At a 5D movie, the effects are multiple -- the viewer actually feels the water, the wind or dust -- which gives them an amazingly unforgettable feeling. Cinemax5D awaits its viewers in Bran, 502 Principala Street, each day from 10 AM to 6 PM, and on weekends until 10 PM.

I have not been able to see THE EXTREME NATURE OF BATS yet, but it is on my list. If you have a chance - let me know what you think!!

Set Visit Clips From TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON! Michael Bay Revelling In 3D!!

Gotta love how Michael Bay has done a complete 180 degree turn from about a year and a half ago when I asked him his feelings on 3D! The world is definitely a better place.

Check out the first behind the scenes clip below from Entertainment Tonight and see him talking 3D beside his 3D set monitors.

And what's with Shia LeBeouf? Is he starting to catch "whatever it is" that Charlie Sheen caught from starring in WALL STREET? :-) Perhaps he is just amped up from the shooting - I don't blame him...

I could just about gag on the Entertainment Tonight tinsel,
but wow - Bay knows how to orchestrate explosions does he not??

New Designer 3D Glasses From Gucci And Armani Square Off Against Oakley!!

Tired of the same ol' 3D glasses at the theater? How about taking a look at these new offerings from Gucci and Armani?

Gucci's glasses (available next month) have "a high tech multi-layered mirrored coating which allows the wearer to view themselves in a mirror without distortion. The mirrored coating not only provides a premium look as well as offers superior viewing and contrast enhancement, but also allows over 98 percent of visible light through, therefore not affecting viewing in a cinema environment. An anti-reflective coating has been applied to the back of the lens for additional overall image quality by reducing scattered light, glare and blue light."

Both styles have an aviator style about them and are meant for in-theater, passive polarized systems like MasterImage and RealD.

A/X Armani Exchange offers a fashion forward unisex navigator style with a crystal gray plastic front and sleek shiny black metal temples.

Armani's glasses (available in December) have "special high tech multi-layered mirrored lens coatings which minimizes distortion when looking in a mirror and additionally offers superior viewing and contrast enhancement. An additional coating has been added to the back of the lens to reduce glare, scattered light as well as blue light for enhanced image quality. The optically correct 6-base curved lenses with circular polarized technology will allow 98+ percent of visible light through which will provide edge-to-edge distortion-free viewing in a movie theatre environment."

There is one big difference between these two 3D glasses offerings however... price. The Armani are reasonably affordable at $58 while the Guccis fetch a deeper pocket $225.

Oakley is
also in the game with offerings available before the holidays.

Must See: First Look At Chris Evans As CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER!!

**SAME DAY UPDATE: My friends over at Collider have some more great shots that have just popped up - check them out!

I am liking the retro look and feel for this CAPTAIN AMERICA outfit!
It looks great and bang on with the era in which he starts his journey, WWII.

Here's what Chris Evans had to say about the plum role (via EW): “At the time, I remember telling a buddy of mine, ‘If the movie bombs, I’m f—-ed. If the movie hits, I’m f—-ed!’”

After declining the part three times, Evans took a meeting with Marvel execs and Johnston and was dazzled by their plans for the movie. He still felt wary about suiting up for Captain America, but then he had an epiphany: “I was just scared,” he says. “I realized my whole decision making process was fear based, and you never want to make a decision out of fear.’”

Evans signed a six-picture deal with Marvel to play the character
, and he has no regrets: “I can’t believe was almost too chicken to play Captain America.”

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER hits theaters July 22, 2011.

Cameron To Shoot AVATAR 2 And 3 At 48 Plus Frames Per Second? Or Higher??

Interesting information coming out of the Churchill Club meeting last night where James Cameron and Google's CEO Eric Schmidt talked about 3D movies and his upcoming sequels AVATAR 2 & 3.

Interesting in that Cameron may be finally delivering on a technology that he has long held dear to his heart - higher frame rates for movies! Yes, he is now talking about the real possibility of shooting the AVATAR sequels at 48 frames per second or higher (60fps+?) which is at least double the standard of 24fps for today's movies.

However this is NOT breaking news as our own Michael Stat asked Cameron about this very topic back in December of last year.

Technically Cameron says that the higher frame rate "helps reduce or eliminate motion artifacts. Another area of focus will be perfecting virtual water effects — light streaming into the depths of the ocean, and the shimmering, wavy surface being just a few examples." (StarkInsider)

Have a look at some of the conversation below:

Christopher Nolan said something about using new technology for BATMAN 3
and I suppose that could actually be higher framerates. Interesting if he does in fact adopt James Cameron's vision for that future of movies as he is kind of lagging on the 3D front ;-)

All the power to Cameron and his team!
I would love to see this come to fruition and I know Michael Stat would too. Bring it on!!

Cameron And Schwarzenegger Working Together On... An Ad. Grrrr.

Ok - not such a big deal. Perhaps it's a 3D ad?? :-) No word on what the ad is all about - most likely a public service I would say.

Seems the two of them are having quite a chuckle over the Interweb's response! I don't blame them.

Grrrr... no Arnold in ABAHTAH??

More info when I get it!

Must Watch: Trailer For James Cameron's SANCTUM!

Here's the first trailer for SANCTUM guys! Looks like a heckuva trip and based on a true story which adds to the immersion, at least for me.

The 3D in this movie is going to be astounding given that it is shot in native 3D with the Cameron/Pace Fusion cameras and that underwater 3D scenes are among the best possible.

Here's the storyline: Based on true events, producer James Cameron presents this adventure drama concerning a father and son who are trapped in an underwater cave with a team of divers as the group strives to stay alive against all hope. KOKODA's Alister Grierson directs from a script by Andrew Wight and John Garvin.

Check out the trailer:

SANCTUM will be released February 4, 2011. And it can't come soon enough!!

It Must Be Geek Day Today: THE HOBBIT Stays In NZ; BATMAN 3 Gets A Name AND AVATAR 2 And 3 Spooling Up!!

What else does October 27, 2010 have in store for us guys?

- First of all I awoke to an email from a friend of mine pointing to a BBC story that Peter Jackson's THE HOBBIT is officially staying in New Zealand for shooting! YES!

- Then I heard that Christopher Nolan's BATMAN 3 will be named THE DARK KNIGHT RISES from Hero Complex (via AICN) and that there will be NO RIDDLER. In fact Geoff Boucher postulates that it could be an expanded story for Two-Face. Hmmm. Interesting read. No 3D, but still geek worthy to be sure. Upset? Look, if Warner Bros wants to throw away at least 25% more box office and what I think is a superior product, then so be it. I am just glad the movie is getting made. No need to talk further about it on MarketSaw now though, unless it becomes a conversion project - Nolan/Pfister would have to shoot with this in mind though, so I am NOT holding my breath.

- To top it all off of course, James Cameron and Fox officially announce that AVATAR 2 and 3 will be Cameron's next gigs!

What else could possibly happen today? How about something more from the Marvel or DC universe? C'mon guys! Today of all days - don't let us down!! :-)

Breaking: James Cameron Officially Shooting AVATAR 2 And 3 As Next Projects!!

YES!!

James Cameron has signed on to write, produce and direct AVATAR 2 and 3 for 20th Century Fox! Possible release dates are December 2014 and December 2015.

I think most of us probably know that sometimes talk of other projects could be simply part of a bigger negotiation tactic - or not. Was James Cameron considering CLEOPATRA as his next gig? Might have been, but that movie along with others surely bolstered the conversations between Fox (who did not want to lose him to Sony for even ONE movie) and the Cameron camp. Steven Soderbergh is still shooting his 3D CLEO anyway!

And we still don't know what project Cameron was talking to Arnold Schwarzenegger about. We should know today sometime - IF it wasn't another potential ruse for negotiations! :-)

Here is the official press release (emphasis is mine):
LOS ANGELES (October 27, 2010) -- Moving forward with the most anticipated films of the next decade, Fox Filmed Entertainment Chairmen Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman announced today that Academy Award®-winning filmmaker James Cameron has agreed to make AVATAR 2 and 3 as his next films.

Cameron, who had always viewed AVATAR as the creation of a new world and mythology, will begin work on the scripts early next year with an eye towards commencing production later in 2011. Cameron will decide if he will shoot the films back-to-back after he completes the scripts, but the release of the first, as yet untitled sequel, is targeted for December 2014, with the third film contemplated for a December 2015 release.

AVATAR 2 & 3 will be produced by Cameron and Jon Landau for Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment.

“AVATAR is not only the highest grossing movie of all time, it is a created universe based on the singular imagination and daring of James Cameron, who also raised the consciousness of people worldwide to some of the greatest issues facing our planet,” said Rothman and Gianopulos. “We had no higher priority, and can feel no greater joy, than enabling Jim to continue and expand his vision of the world of AVATAR. This is a great day in the history of our company, and we thank Jim, Jon Landau, Rae Sanchini and all of their team and all of our Fox colleagues throughout the world, who have made this possible.”

Commented Cameron: "It is a rare and remarkable opportunity when a filmmaker gets to build a fantasy world, and watch it grow, with the resources and partnership of a global media company. AVATAR was conceived as an epic work of fantasy – a world that audiences could visit, across all media platforms, and this moment marks the launch of the next phase of that world. With two new films on the drawing boards, my company and I are embarking on an epic journey with our partners at Twentieth Century Fox. Our goal is to meet and exceed the global audience's expectations for the richness of AVATAR’s visual world and the power of the storytelling. In the second and third films, which will be self contained stories that also fulfill a greater story arc, we will not back off the throttle of AVATAR’s visual and emotional horsepower, and will continue to explore its themes and characters, which touched the hearts of audiences in all cultures around the world.

I'm looking forward to returning to Pandora, a world where our imaginations can run wild."

“It is very exciting to be teaming again with our partners at Fox to give audiences the opportunity to return to Pandora,” said producer Jon Landau. “With the first movie, Jim only scratched the surface of the stories he wants to tell and the creatures and world he wants to create. Now we will continue his vision.”

AVATAR is the highest grossing film of all time, taking in nearly $2.8 billion in worldwide box office. It is also the top-selling Blu-ray disc of all time. AVATAR won Golden Globe® awards for Best Motion Picture and Best Director; and was nominated for nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, and won Oscars for art direction, visual effects and cinematography.

AVATAR was written by Cameron from an idea he nurtured for over a decade, while working on the technology necessary to realize its wholly imagined world. Working with Joe Letteri and his team at Peter Jackson’s WETA Digital, Cameron created a fully immersive 3D cinematic experience of a new kind, where revolutionary technology that was invented to make the film disappeared into the emotion of the characters and the epic nature of the story.

AVATAR 2 & 3 will mark Cameron’s latest collaborations with Twentieth Century Fox, a relationship that spans 25 years and marks one of the most successful filmmaker-studio alliances in motion picture history. Cameron and Fox first joined forces in 1985 for Aliens, which became a sci-fi classic. Next came The Abyss, which revolutionized visual effects technology; and True Lies, a blockbuster starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. In 1996, Fox greenlighted Cameron’s Titanic, which became the most successful film in history, and won a record-breaking eleven Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Lightstorm partner Rae Sanchini negotiated the deal on Lightstorm’s behalf.

CONGRATULATIONS JIM, JON AND FOX!

Quick Post: Moving Speech From Sir Richard Taylor - This Is Why NZ Deserves THE HOBBIT Folks...

I was quite moved by Sir Richard Taylor's words in this speech (he is the Co-founder / Co-Director of Weta Workshop) sent in by a daily MarketSaw reader in New Zealand (Thanks Gem!) - I think you will be too. It is in 3D if you have the means to watch it, or watch it in 2D here.

Also seen in the clip is Gino Acevedo - Senior Prosthetics Supervisor of Weta Workshop.

Warner Bros - if you are reading and watching this video, please consider the passion that these New Zealanders bring to THE HOBBIT's table. It would be unmatched anywhere in the world and impossible to quantify.

Watch this clip:

Best of luck Kiwi!! We all love ya.

LIFE OF PI Is Afloat: Ang Lee Shooting In Native 3D

According to USAToday, Director Ang Lee is set to begin adapting Yann Martel's LIFE OF PI
and has in fact found his leading man and a budget from Fox to shoot the movie in stereoscopic 3D. The official press release is here.

Lee says that Suraj Sharma will play Pi Patel who is stranded in a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger, zebra, hyena and orangutan. Sharma beat out an amazing 3000 other teen boys for the coveted role. "He read one complex scene, and by the end he was crying," Lee says. "We all were."

The storyline is all about Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel, an Indian boy from Pondicherry, explores issues of spirituality and practicality from an early age. He survives 227 days after a shipwreck, while stranded on a boat in the Pacific Ocean with the aforementioned creatures.

Regarding budget, Lee approached Fox with a need for well over $50m and got it. "It's expensive to shoot in 3-D," Lee says. "I know it's a great burden on me, but the story kept haunting me, and 3-D was the way for me to crack the book."

I love Lee's commitment to using 3D for the project! "The ocean is perfect for 3-D. I think it will change the way people experience the sea."

Fox has set LIFE OF PI's release date for 2012.

Can't wait to see this on the big screen! Anyone read the book
yet??

First Look: Universal's THE LORAX By Dr. Seuss

Actually I did not know that Universal was releasing THE LORAX in stereoscopic 3D until I read about it in USAToday! That rarely happens - but there it is. Then again, I had a hard time finding out whether DESPICABLE ME was going to be in S3D or not back in the day as well. Perhaps Universal needs to pick things up a bit!

The studio has impressive shoes to fill with the success they enjoyed with DESPICABLE ME. That movie raked in $250m domestically. Can they repeat with Dr. Seuss' THE LORAX?

The storyline chronicles the plight of the environment and the Lorax, who speaks for the trees against the greedy Once-ler.

Actors lending their voices for the project are Danny DeVito (The Lorax), Ed Helms (The Once-ler) and Rob Riggle (Cop from THE HANGOVER). Zac Efron voices a boy (Ted) who goes looking for The Once-ler with Betty White as Ted's grandmother.

DeVito is candid about his role and opinions on environmentalism: "Look, I don't want to be gruff about it, but we've got to wake up and smell the oil burning," he says. "I'm hoping that the squeakiest wheel gets the least grease. I feel sometimes the only way to get things done is shake people up a little bit, and the Lorax is not a guy who pussyfoots around. He's not a guy who uses kid gloves. No, no, the Lorax means business."

I love Dr. Seuss stories! The man was a genius. I say make them ALL into movies...

THE LORAX opens March 2, 2012.

Update On The New STARS WARS Trilogy: What To Believe And What Not To

Guys - my top source in Lucasfilm just updated me on just what holds water with the IESB claims (because some is different from our reports) and what DOESN'T hold water. In other words, what should we be anticipating with this new trilogy??

Quote - IESB: "What do we know? First of all, these new film will have nothing to do with the live action television series currently in development. That show already has over 50 scripts ready to go and plenty of pre-production time and money has been spent on artwork and storyboards. Once that show goes into production, Lucasfilm hopes to be able to produce at least 100 episodes since that is the threshold for syndication in the United States."

This is true, the pictures will have little to nothing to do with the TV show, as it stands right now! Lots and lots of money has been spent creating what I am sure will be a TV classic. It will run 100 episodes at least.

Quote - IESB: "...fans can expect the new trilogy after the entire saga is released in 3D which is expected to be complete around 2015 or 2016."

Again accurate.

Quote - IESB: "Uncle George's modus operandi has not changed, the plan is that he will self finance the new trilogy after he rakes in an expected $500 - $750 million dollars with the re-release of the entire Star Wars Saga in 3D and on Blu-Ray."

Speculation NOT journalism.

Quote - IESB: "The ideal plan, according to our spy at Skywalker Ranch, is to be able to release a new Star Wars film within 24 months after the release of the last re-re-release (is that right?) of Return of the Jedi 3D."

There is a 100 episode TV series to be completed, nothing will move forward on the a new trilogy until after this show is all but done. PERIOD! As well as the conversions this is going to take time, so do not expect anything for quite some time. The dates are not set and it is all speculation as to when where and what the timeframe will be, what I can tell you is that it will not be until after the TV show is all but done.

It will be 3D (obviously).

Quote - IESB:
"Too early for story details but one thing that our source is certain about, they will not be prequels but instead sequels. It's not for certain if they will be the long awaited Episodes 7, 8 and 9 but could instead be Episodes 10, 11 and 12 or possibly even further out in the Star Wars timeline. And by giving space in the timeline, possibly even as far as 100 years or 1,000 years in the Star Wars universe future, Lucas avoids having to make these stories "fit in" with what the previous stories have told."

This is where I call out the article from IESB as fabrication. "1000 years into the STARWARS future?" While Lucas is a clever business man he is not a complete fool, even if many think he is. Bottom line, this is bullsh*t, why ? Well because it "IS" episodes 7 - 9 we are talking about here, (IESB is wrong). 10, 11, and 12 ? Where the hell does that come from ?

Quote - IESB: "According to our sources, the most likely scenario for the films is that they will exist in the same universe but will not have anything to do with the Skywalker Clan. That story has been told, that starship has sailed."

Do I really have to comment on why this is wrong? Again speculation not journalism. Where as I am the first to speculate, I am helped by informed opinion and also knowledge of what I speak of. IESB is obviously not, and neither is THEIR source.

Quote - IESB: "What has caused this sudden change of heart for Uncle George? Well, besides the obvious possible billions that a new Star Wars trilogy will take in, our source tells us that George has gotten motivated with the success the Clone Wars animated series, the video games and also with the success of Avatar."

Partially true, AVATAR is a big reason for this, however, may I point out this was always the plan, and will continue to be the plan, even if George is not around in body to achieve it himself! Episodes 7 - 9 complete the story arc.

Quote - IESB: "Can we expect Lucasfilm to confirm our story? Have they ever? Nope, I am sure that they will spin this or completely deny the story, but we will stand 100% behind our source."

No, never.
However, I suggest they not only stand behind THEIR source, but while standing behind the source they start to tiptoe in another direction. Should this source exist that is. Which I doubt.

Remember guys, here is what you need to keep in mind:
1. This is a future project, not tomorrow.
2. Discussions are ongoing.
3. The Skywalker's will be the focus, in keeping with the arc.
4. These will be the final 3 episodes of the saga.
5. Lucas will be producing.
6. As it stands now the plan is for Lucas to NOT direct.

More when I get it. Which may be awhile now that IESB has stirred up the hornet's nest with a fake story. Lucasfilm will be like Fort Knox. Thanks alot.

Update On THE HOBBIT Situation In New Zealand: New Photos!

Still no official word from New Zealand yet on whether Warner Bros will pull the plug on the Kiwi location for shooting THE HOBBIT or not.

What I can tell you is there are plenty of demonstrators who are voicing that they want the production to stay. Executives from Warner Bros are talking things over with Peter Jackson's team and key government officials - including the Prime Minister. Hopefully the noise from the street will nudge the ball along in Kiwi's favor.

From TVNZ: "Prime Minister John Key has accused the actors' unions of using The Hobbit as a way to advance their union "wish list". Key will meet several high-powered executives from the film's main producer Warner Brothers in Wellington over the next two days, hoping to convince them that there will be no issues about filming the movies in New Zealand.

...(Public) Rallies were held in Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton, Queenstown and Matamata, where the Hobbiton sets have been built."

A statement from Peter Jackson was read aloud to the 2000+ in Wellington
(via NZHerald): "Turning us into another state of Australia under the sway of a destructive organisation carries the very real risk of destroying the great big heart that beats inside our films," Sir Peter said.

"Don't open up the door to an Australian trade union who will never put the interests of Kiwis first, and invest that union with the p
ower to destroy everything we have built."

Sir Peter said the film industry was a family that loved its work. "That love ends up on the screen and I truly believe it sets our films apart from those made in any other country.

"I know your message to the studio will not go unnoticed. You have said loudly and clearly: New Zealand is where The Hobbit films should be made. Their creative DNA is here. This is where Middle Earth was born and this is where it should stay."

There is also an excellent interview on TVNZ that involves one of the protagonists in this story, Helen Kelly - president of the Combined Trade Unions. She is joined by John Barnett of South Pacific Picture who defends Peter Jackson. You can watch the interview there as well (no embed available).

The attached photos were sent in from a source of mine on the island nation. Very passionate people are involved here. Makes you wonder if things could turn ugly if it is announced that Warner Bros is in fact moving THE HOBBIT.

If the production does indeed move, it won't feel the same to me at all.

Our New STAR WARS Trilogy Story Is Backed Up: Other Website Claiming As Their Own

Well what can you expect from IESB.net? That site has had a very deceitful past and they seem to be carrying on with deceit.

IESB has claimed to have an exclusive story that there is a new STAR WARS trilogy coming down the pipes.

Ummm no. MarketSaw had that exclusive story A YEAR AGO. We are still working on that story and have some exciting news hopefully coming down soon. Our sources are the best in the world and I will defend them and this site anytime.

Getting over the fact that IESB has stolen this story, I am very excited about what is developing over at Lucasfilm. As I said, I can't divulge what I have been working on yet because it is very, VERY hush hush. Other than letting you know I have heard it will be in 3D and that George Lucas is more than likely producing and not directing, I can't go much further on the story today.

If you will remember Steve Sansweet of Lucasfilm tried to cover up my story last year but in reality most STAR WARS fans know that they tend to cover up true stories with lies as they have in the past.

So, keep it tuned to MarketSaw for the latest on this huge, HUGE story.

Red Band Clip From SAW 3D! SPOILER!!

If you are squeamish, underage or at work think twice about watching this red band clip from SAW 3D. The title of the clip ('Jill's Demise') is not hidden, however given that you have probably seen the trailers (which highlight some of this scene) then you could most likely guess what happens anyway.

SAW 3D is only a week away now and the excitement is building :-) Will this truly be the last SAW movie? How on earth is this thing wrapped up? Will Jigsaw be rebooted?

SAW 3D opens October 29.

NASTY.

Richard Armitage (UK TV’s MI-5 and soon to appear in Captain America: The First Avenger) is set to play Thorin Oakenshield, the leader of the Company of Dwarves which sets off to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from a thieving dragon.

“Despite the various rumours and speculation surrounding this role, there has only ever been one Bilbo Baggins for us,” says Peter Jackson. “There are a few times in your career when you come across an actor who you know was born to play a role, but that was the case as soon as I met Martin. He is intelligent, funny, surprising and brave – exactly like Bilbo and I feel incredibly proud to be able to announce that he is our Hobbit.”

He adds “Richard is one of the most exciting and dynamic actors working on screen today and we know he is going to make an amazing Thorin Oakensheild. We cannot wait to start this adventure with him and feel very lucky that one of the most beloved characters in Middle-earth is in such good hands.”

Rounding out the Company of Dwarves are Aidan Turner (TV’s Being Human) and Rob Kazinsky (TVs EastEnders) who play Kili and Fili, respectively. Jackson comments “Rob is an extremely talented young actor with a huge career in front of him, I’m thrilled that he has agreed to take on the role of Fili. Besides his talent as an actor, Rob is also a champion sword fighter; I’m looking forward to seeing the damage he can do to a horde of marauding Goblins!” He continues, “Adian is a wonderfully gifted young actor who hails from Ireland. I’m sure he will bring enormous heart and humor to the role of Kili.”

The remaining dwarves will be played by Graham McTavish (Secretariat and TV’s 24) as Dwalin; John Callen (TV’s Power Rangers Jungle Fury) as Oin; Stephen Hunter (TV’s All Saints) as Bombur; Mark Hadlow (King Kong) as Dori; and Peter Hambleton (TV’s The Strip) as Gloin.

Jackson notes, “Graham is a terrific actor, with a great depth of experience, which I know he will bring to the role of “Dwalin. I have worked with Mark Hadlow on many projects; he is a fantastic actor. I am thrilled to be working with both of them on these movies." He adds, “I am also proud to announce the casting of New Zealand actors as Peter Hambleton, John Callen and Stephen Hunter. Fran and I know that they will bring great depth and talent to our Company of Dwarves.”

The two The Hobbit films are being co-produced by New Line Cinema and MGM, with New Line managing production, Warner Bros. Pictures handling domestic distribution and MGM distributing internationally. Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Carolynne Cunningham are producing the films, with Phillipa Boyens serving as co-producer and Ken Kamins as executive producer.

The Oscar-winning, critically acclaimed LOTR trilogy, also from the production team of Jackson, Walsh and Cunningham, grossed nearly $3 billion worldwide at the box office. In 2003, Return of the King swept the Academy Awards, winning all of the 11 categories in which it was nominated, including Best Picture — the first-ever Best Picture win for a fantasy film. The trilogy’s production was also unprecedented at the time.

Exciting times!! Let's get this thing on the road. There and back again. RIGHT NOW.

Whoa! Details Surface About Ridley Scott's ALIEN Prequels: SPOILERS!!

I just couldn't help myself, I had to read it. I may regret it as how many times in life do you get to watch a probable Ridley Scott Sci-Fi masterpiece with no prior knowledge these days?

But you DO have a choice to not read it if you so desire. Below the spoiler alert warning below lies some key aspects of the ALIEN prequels' script that is certainly very interesting and I feel would make a pair of memorable movies.

Should you read it? Your call. It may even be fake, but if it is then the 'fake writers' should probably be writing.

**SPOILER ALERT**
Do not read further unless you wish to NOT have a pristine viewing experience of the upcoming ALIEN prequel movies.

Keep in mind that the comments section is OPEN TO DISCUSSION ABOUT THESE SPOILERS.

To read the spoilers, simply highlight the white characters below with your cursor:
The story follows a group of terraforming aliens the script calls ‘Growers’ — these are seemingly of the race from which comes the original film’s ‘space jockey.’ There’s a strange sequence in which the Growers use a bit of mind control to instigate a homosexual encounter between Fin and Karik, two male human slave farmers. The aliens, you see, are a single-sex species and don’t understand the male-female breeding requirements of humans. The title alien — the xenomorph — is a creature used by Growers as part of the terraforming process, and at a point in the script it develops into the creature we know and love. So we won’t see it in the form we know right off; this will be a payoff later in the script. Into the group of Growers and human slaves comes a ship crewed by “the usual Alien misfits” complete with a female character that sounds like Vasquez from Aliens, and another woman named Truks that is reportedly the role for which Gemma Arterton was considered. Ridley Scott has also reportedly met with Lance Henricksen, though how the guy who fit into the established Alien storyline might work in this film, I can only conjecture. (I’d guess he’d appear only towards the end, as the xenomorphs are out of control, in a story thread that would point right towards the original Alien.) The summation is that this script is “a deep movie — part science-fiction, part psychological drama, part, dare I say, romance.”

Now that you may have read it, what do you think? It would make a heckuva pair of movies, no doubt in my mind and in 3D? Interesting! Can't wait - IF this is all factual. Even if it is accurate, scripts are changed all the time. Keep that in mind.

3D News Ticker: Cameron Talks AVATAR, TITANIC 3D And CLEOPATRA; PIRANHA 3DD Goes Aja-Less; And The New CARS 2 Teaser Trailer And Art!!

3D news is coming fast and furious now isn't it? Gotta love it. Let's have a look at some of the top stories of today:

- James Cameron talks to the NYTimes about the AVATAR Disc Release, TITANIC 3D and whether or not he will do Sony's CLEOPATRA (he doesn't know). Cameron says: "There’s a Cleopatra project in work, meaning that it’s been in development at Sony. And it’s a subject that’s always fascinated me. So yeah, I’ve been talking to them about it but no decisions have been made. But it sounds hot, doesn’t it? I mean, Angelina Jolie and Cleopatra? To me, that’s like a slam dunk."

Personally I thi
nk the CLEOPATRA movie should be produced by Cameron as I am kinda selfishly wanting him to focus on AVATAR or BATTLE ANGEL, but I can clearly see why he wants to do it - the movie would be EPIC.

---

- Dimension Films has swam the extra mile in getting PIRANHA 3DD into the water for next summer. According to Deadline, they have baited John Gulager (BEAST) to direct the sequel with SAW 3D writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan attached to pen it.

Could this be the next SAW franchise? I would fall resoundingly on the "NO" side of that conversation.

---

- Pixar has released a teaser trailer for next summer's CARS 2! It does not reveal anything much at all, but it does tell you to start getting ready for the adventure which is finally happening. Perhaps of more interest to you is the concept art that has been released.

Storyline: Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.

John Lasseter returns to the driver’s seat to direct this follow-up to his 2006 Golden Globe®-winning “Cars.” “Cars 2” is co-directed by Brad Lewis, producer of the Oscar®-winning film “Ratatouille,” and produced by visual effects industry veteran Denise Ream (associate producer, “Up”; visual effects executive producer, “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”). The film hits the track on June 24, 2011, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D in select theaters.

Breaking News, Exclusive Photos: Kiwi Technicians Matching To Keep The MEAA Out Of New Zealand!!

** SAME DAY UPDATE #2: A new actor's union has formed in New Zealand and announced that it WILL NOT boycott the production of THE HOBBIT. More info from Variety. No word on whether this development is simply too late to keep the project in New Zealand.

**SAME DAY UPDATE:
Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh have issued a statement via the Press of New Zealand:

“The damage inflicted on our film industry by [the actors unions] is long since done,” and resolution of the union issue now “does nothing to help the film stay in New Zealand. Next week Warners are coming down to New Zealand to make arrangements to move the production offshore. It appears we cannot make films in our own country even when substantial financing is available.”

How sad is that?
One of the great prides of New Zealand is close to waving goodbye. Wow. The stupidity of this actor's union boggles the mind.

Hey guys - I have more breaking news from that industry meeting over THE HOBBIT that was held in Wellington only hours ago! All images here are MarketSaw exclusives sent in by a source for our site.

Seems that meeting was organized by the Actor's Equity union to discuss new industry standards as it is looking to solidify a collective agreement for actors. It has in fact asked for its membership to boycott the production of the two Hobbit movies.

HOWEVER, Sir Richard Taylor who heads Weta Workshop met with film technicians only hours ago too. There were over 1000 of them. Those technicians had originally planned to protest outside of the Actor's Equity meeting but the actors CANCELLED their impromptu gathering and so that group of 1000 technicians took to the streets of Wellington.

These are photos of that march.

Taylor said the following quotes: "Everyone gathered felt that they had done their part in assuring the New Zealand film industry that they care passionately about seeing the Hobbit made in New Zealand and that the industry as a whole should be left as it is for the successful and ongoing future of film making in New Zealand."

"Wellington film technicians want to be heard. They want to be represented in these very bizarre and strange events that are going on right now."

"The producers are doing all that they can to retain the film here in New Zealand.

"By the actions of a very li
mited few, a huge fraternity of film makers, technicians, and artists will be affected."

Taylor was also expressed his opinion that the New Zealand film industry was "at some level of peril" and told TVNZ there was a mood of "great concern".

It is very important to note that the Actor's Equity union has NOT received full support from the actors
and that Peter Jackson refuses to meet with them (quotes via Stuff).

Tempers are heating up in Kiwi and with good reason - their whole industry could be at stake should they lose THE HOBBIT's production to another country over this dispute.

Greed seems to be oozing out of that corner of the world but to me it seems like it is the MEAA trying to force their hand on a smaller country's livelihood and pride. THE HOBBIT needs to be filmed in New Zealand folks. Let's get this over with now.

More breaking news when I get it!

Short Low Quality Clip From AVATAR's Future Earth Fight Scene!

Hey guys - its not much, but here is a taste of what is coming in the AVATAR Extended Collector's Edition three disc set on November 16.

We have seen bits and pieces of future Earth crop up here and there, but this is the first time we have anywhere near the 45 second run time of this partial scene that was aired at the SPIKE 2010 Scream awards. That is director James Cameron and producer Jon Landau introducing the clip.

Click here for more details as to what to expect in the disc release.

I don't know how long this will be up on YouTube, but have a look:

It seems Jake Sully can handle himself quite well even from his disadvantage!
The scene reminds me more of the old James Cameron and you know what? It doesn't fit very well with how the rest of the movie is cut, so I don't blame Jim for not including it.
Thanks for the link JoeyFFgtr.

Keep it on MarketSaw for all things Cameron!!
